The eTrek II, my capstone project in Product Design, melds the mechanical with the digital to cater to outdoor enthusiasts and digital minimalists alike. This innovative watch aims to deepen human connections by providing a respite from the digital onslaught, featuring a dual-screen option that combines the convenience of digital communication with the timeless elegance of an analog display.
Challenge:
Create a wearable that integrates mechanical and digital functions, catering to outdoor enthusiasts and digital minimalists. The wearable should enhance human connections by encouraging disconnection from the overwhelming digital world by offering a refined, limited-functionality experience.

Persona:

I came across a book “Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World” and it sparked an idea. The digital minimalist philosophy is based on using technology in a carefully curated way that supports the things they value and disregards the aspects that take away from what you truly want to focus on in life, such as spending time with loved ones, in nature or learning a new skill.
My designs always begin with observation with a combination of research and sketching.

This product differs from other digital wearables on the market because of its specific curated use, dual analog and digital screen on either side and luxury style. Sleek and subtle with an icon shape which would immediately be recognizable without branding or labels. Combined with a simple and easy user experience with the digital component.
